About us:

What began in 1910 as a small co-operative of just three pharmacies has grown into Wesfarmers Health—a leading Australian organisation in health, beauty, and wellness.

Today, Wesfarmers Health proudly employs over 3,600 team members, all committed to delivering accessible, innovative, and trusted health and beauty services to Australians nationwide, across retail, medi-aesthetics, digital health, and wholesale and supply chain operations.

What you’ll do:

We’re looking for a Category Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will support our Pharmacy Business Development Category Managers across our banner brands and member programs, including Soul Pattinson Chemist, Pharmacist Advice and Club Premium, helping keep key category activity moving through the merchandise operating rhythm.

In this role, you will support supplier administration, promotional activation (including catalogue checks), range review processes, reporting cadence and data hygiene. You will also help coordinate Joint Business Plans (JBP) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), and support the retail media opportunity pipeline (tracking and pack support) and other income opportunities, aligned to the operating model.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Category Managers to deliver category and banner outcomes through day-to-day coordination across the category operating rhythm
  • Administer key promotional activations, including accurate pricing and promotional deal activation, and catalogue checks to ensure accuracy and zero compliance issues (assortments, pricing, deals and claims)
  • Maintain the promotional calendar and mud map administration through trackers, critical dates, status updates and action logs
  • Ensure responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders to drive prompt resolution and action on promotional and catalogue issues
  • Support range review and ranging readiness activities by coordinating supplier, space and inventory inputs and escalating risks early
  • Maintain and update range review trackers, supplier and article lists, and implementation status
  • Support supplier relationship administration through timely communication, coordination, and accurate recording and archiving of supplier agreements and information
  • Support Joint Business Plans (JBP) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) through coordination of packs, actions and follow-ups
  • Maintain trackers and pack support for supplier-funded opportunities including retail media, conference sponsorships, in-store secondary display packages and training and education events
  • Collate post-activity reporting inputs to support supplier recap packs and internal performance reviews

If you’re organised, analytical, a great communicator, and eager to grow your career in retail, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Category, Buying or Merchandise Assistant
  • Desirable experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Basic understanding of category/merchandise processes and strong attention to detail in a deadline-driven operating rhythm
  • Sound analytical and data management skills (including maintaining trackers and producing accurate reporting inputs)
  • Strong stakeholder communication and follow-up discipline with suppliers and internal teams
  • Strong organisation, time management and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong Microsoft Office capability (Excel proficiency required)
  • Tertiary Qualification (Business, Finance, Procurement, Marketing or Retail) or equivalent practical experience

Why us?

  • Access to employee benefits across Wesfarmers including team member discounts at Bunnings, Kmart, Target, Officeworks, OnePass, Priceline, atomica and Clear Skincare Clinics
  • Ongoing professional development and career opportunities across the Wesfarmers Health Division and the broader Wesfarmers Group
