What you’ll do:
We’re looking for an experienced Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SH&W) Manager – Supply Chain to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead a sustainable approach to SH&W that supports Wesfarmers Health’s commitment to making our workplace a safer place to work every day.
Reporting to the Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing, you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement SH&W strategies. You’ll support self-insurance licensing, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and help reduce Wesfarmers Health’s risk profile. This role will oversee safety across our distribution centres and transport operations.
This full-time role is based at our Sydney Fulfillment Centre in Marsden Park and includes two direct reports.
The responsibilities for this role include:
Safety, Health & Wellbeing – Follow and promote all health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices to protect employees, customers, contractors, and visitors. Encourage safe behaviours, set clear standards, and support accountability. Review incidents and safety data to focus efforts on key risks and help teams resolve issues by sharing strong knowledge of safety laws and practices.
SH&W Management System – Use your expertise to ensure Wesfarmers Health’s SH&W Management System meets legal and self-insurance requirements, manages risk effectively, and drives ongoing improvement. Help maintain self-insurance accreditation through regular internal and external audits, and follow up on any actions needed. Provide expert advice to business units on how to apply the SH&W Management System.
Strategy – Advise business units on managing safety risks and applying the SH&W Management System. Help create annual Safety Business Plans that align with audit requirements and site specific risks. Lead national safety campaigns and projects that support compliance and meet the business’s risk profile.
Leadership – Work closely with operational leaders to ensure strong safety leadership, compliance and risk management. Offer strategic and technical guidance to support safety goals. Build the skills and performance of SH&W Business Partners to ensure consistent application of safety processes, procedures, and laws.
Reporting – Work with stakeholders to analyse data and contribute to safety reports. Lead analysis of trends using both lead and lag indicators to support continuous improvement with real evidence.
What you’ll bring:
- 5 years of health and safety leadership experience within a medium to large commercial enterprise, ideally with a supply chain or manufacturing background.
- Extensive technical knowledge in relation to OH&S legislation and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams to identify and manage safety, health & wellbeing issues, including the design, delivery and evaluation of risk management programs, systems and processes.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills to identify and interpret trends and contributing factors.
- Strong leadership skills and excellent time management
- Tertiary qualification in OH&S or related discipline (minimum Graduate Diploma).
