What you’ll do:
We’re looking for an experienced Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SH&W) Manager – Retail and Corporate to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead a sustainable approach to SH&W that supports Wesfarmers Health’s commitment to creating a safer place to work every day.
Reporting to the Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing, you’ll collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement SH&W strategies. You will support self-insurance licensing, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and help reduce Wesfarmers Health’s overall risk profile. This role is responsible for overseeing safety across our Retail and Corporate divisions.
This full-time role is based at our Docklands Support Office, and provides direct leadership to our Workplace Experience Coordinator.
Key responsibilities include:
- Safety, Health & Wellbeing: Promote and enforce health and safety policies and procedures, using data and risk-based insights to encourage safe behaviours, resolve issues, and ensure the wellbeing of all team members, customers, contractors, and visitors.
- SH&W Management System: Lead and maintain the SH&W Management System to ensure compliance with legislative and self-insurance requirements, manage risks effectively, support audit processes, and provide strategic guidance for continuous improvement.
- Strategy: Provide strategic leadership to business units by guiding risk management, developing safety business plans, driving SH&W strategy implementation, leading compliance-focused campaigns, and supporting initiatives that enhance the team member experience.
- Leadership: Lead and influence operational leadership to uphold compliance, manage risks effectively, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the business.
- Reporting: Analyse and report on safety data and trends, delivering clear insights that drive evidence-based continuous improvement across the Retail and Corporate divisions.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in health and safety leadership within a medium to large commercial enterprise, ideally within a retail environment.
- Extensive technical knowledge of OH&S legislation and standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams to identify and manage safety, health, and wellbeing issues, including designing, delivering, and evaluating risk management programs and processes.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills to identify and interpret trends and contributing factors.
- Strong leadership skills and excellent planning and time management abilities.
- Tertiary qualification in OH&S or related discipline (minimum Graduate Diploma), including Lead Auditor and ICAM Incident Investigation training
